My passion for health and fitness started at a very young age. When I was seven years old, I remember my grandfather sat me down and had me watch all five “Rocky” movies. At that point I thought to myself “I want to look like that”. My admiration for the size of Rocky’s traps and his venture towards alpha dominance made me want to be an active individual who was strong and tough.

At thirteen, I began to play football at the junior high and high school level. My freshman year, our lineman coach told each of us “if you want to start playing on ‘Friday Nights’, you will be required to do powerlifting”. I wasn’t familiar with the sport and thought it was ridiculous. Once I placed my hands on that bar, I knew I had found my love and passion for lifting weights. I continued to lift every day, and would even be the kid who was forced to leave the fieldhouse because the staff wanted to go home. By my senior year, our team had won our second THSPA State Powerlifting Championship and my total was 1660lbs. I had squatted 625, benched 485 for a state record, and deadlifted 550lbs. I had competed in the 242lbs weight class.

At the age of 19, I earned my certification as a personal trainer through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). While training clients, I continued to compete through different federations to increase my reputation as a raw competitor. My best lifts were 465lbs raw bench and a 630 raw deadlift.

My educational background extends far beyond my ISSA certification. At the University of Texas at Arlington, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2012. Afterwards, I immediately moved to the University of San Antonio to earn my master’s in Kinesiology in 2014. That same year I earned my certificate to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.

In addition to personal training, I coached youth, teens, collegiate, and professional athletes through a business called “The Training Ground” in San Antonio, Texas. I was promoted to Director of Operations my last year and wrote all the curriculum and promoted other resources on not just strength training, but speed training as well. I carried this knowledge into my coaching career as I have been a high school coach for the last four years.

I have been involved with football, powerlifting, and worked with various sports by helping them create and administer strength workouts for their athletes. I continue to work with all levels of athletes, and want to continue to do so while continuing to build a reputation as a strength coach. I want to promote my ideas, concepts, and services as I have plenty to offer.

With all my educational and professional experience in the world of sports performance, I have created the concept of “Harvesting Strength”. Harvesting strength isn’t only about lifting heavy objects, but other concepts and practices that go beyond the barbell. To be strong, it encompasses physical strength, mental strength, and much more. Training to be strong requires much more beyond the hours you spend in the gym. We have to train with intent, not with mindless programming that only satisfies the muscles you can see in the mirror.

This is my passion…and I want to connect, promote, and incorporate my practices with others to create some of the strongest athletes there are.
